Overview

The Executive Branch of SGA is comprised of the Executive Cabinet (“Top 4”), who are elected through the general election, and the Executive Staff. Primarily, the Executive Branch is in charge of the administration of SGA and communication with University Administration, with each Executive Cabinet officer having specific duties and authority granted by the SGA Constitution and Bylaws. The Executive Staff aids the Cabinet in these duties.

The Legislative Branch is represented by the Student Senate, who are responsible for reviewing University policies and documents that affect students in order to provide recommendations related to them. Within the Senate there are designated committees that focus on specific concerns about student life to address distinct student needs. All Senators are elected officials, typically during the spring election cycle.

The SGA Supreme Court constitutes the Judicial Branch of SGA. The Court, comprised of seven Justices from different University colleges, arbitrates disputes between student organizations, branches of SGA and election disputes. They are also the interpreters of the SGA Constitution & Bylaws. They are appointed by the SGA President.

The "Arms" of SGA are the Engage, Lead, Serve Board (ELSB), the Student Activities Board (SAB), and the Student Organizations Advisory Board (SOAB). ELSB provides developmental opportunities to support community engagement, leadership, and service. SAB hosts social, multicultural, recreation, and educational activities for University students to attend. SOAB primarily provides support for Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) and the Student Involvement Staff to strengthen relations between SGA and RSO leaders and members.
