How to submit a petition

When students require special consideration or exceptions to standard academic processes, they may submit a petition.  All petitions will be reviewed by the Appeals Committee, which is composed of A&S faculty members. Students will be notified of a decision via email after submitting their first petition. For an appeal of a previous decision, students should expect a longer wait for notification.

If you need assistance filling out one of these forms please come to the A&S Advising office in Gardiner Hall and we will be glad to help you.

Missed the deadline to add, drop, or change an A&S class? Petition for a deadline waiver here. You'll need to submit two forms per class — the appropriate add or withdraw form, plus an Instructor Remarks form.

Part-time students may request Dean's Scholars or Dean's List recognition by combining consecutive enrollment semesters that meet the performance standards specified in the linked document.

A&S students may request to change their academic advisor to establish a better working relationship. You may switch to someone you've connected with or your major's liaison advisor.
