Transfer Resources

Sidebar

As one of Kentucky's top transfer destinations, the University of Louisville is committed to making the transfer process as seamless as possible. From Fall 2021 to Fall 2023, UofL's transfer student enrollment grew from 868 to 1,207—a 39.1% increase—reflecting the university's continued investment in supporting transfer student success.

Whether you're transferring from a community college or another four-year institution, Commuter & Transfer Initiatives (CTI) is here to help you make a smooth transition. From Welcome Week events and opportunities to connect with fellow students to programs, campus resources, and ongoing support throughout the year, you'll find everything you need to build community, get involved, and thrive at UofL.

Welcome Week

Transfer students beginning at UofL in the fall are encouraged to participate in Welcome Week, the university's official welcome to campus. Throughout the week, students can attend events designed to help them meet other Cardinals, explore campus, connect with student organizations and campus resources, and become familiar with everything UofL has to offer. Whether attending transfer-specific programs or campus-wide traditions, Welcome Week is a great way to build connections, gain confidence, and start the semester feeling at home.

Tau Sigma National Honor Society

Tau Sigma is an academic honor society designed specifically to recognize and promote the academic excellence and involvement of transfer students. Membership provides opportunities to earn scholarships, attend leadership conferences, take on leadership roles within the university, and engage in service both on campus and in the community—all while building connections and becoming an active part of the UofL community.

To be eligible, students must:

  • Have transferred to UofL with at least one year’s worth of academic credits
  • Have completed at least one full term of coursework (typically 12 semester hours)
  • Have earned a 3.5 GPA OR rank in the top 20% of incoming transfer students during their transfer term or upon completion of a full term’s equivalent coursework

Visit EngageUofL to learn more about Tau Sigma and how to get involved.

Transfer Themed Community

The Transfer Themed Community (TC) supports transfer students as they transition to the University of Louisville. This residential community connects students who share the transfer experience and provides timely resources to help them acclimate to a new campus environment. The TC is designed to foster connection, belonging, and success as students begin their journey at UofL.
