Hire Attire

Many students report that being unable to afford professional clothing for job fairs, interviews, and internships is a barrier to success. To help every Cardinal feel confident launching into their career, the Student Success Center opened Hire Attire in spring 2026. 

The no-cost shop offers suits, shirts, pants, dresses, skirts, ties, shoes, belts, and bags, in a variety of styles and sizes — all completely free to any current UofL student. All UofL students deserve to feel confident as they prepare for their next phase, and providing resources like these is especially important on a campus where more than a third of the student body identifies as first-generation college students and where more than a third are limited income students who receive a Pell grant. 

Hire Attire is free for students with a UofL ID and open weekly in the Miller Information Technology Center (MITC) on the Belknap Campus during the fall and spring semesters. Student staff are available to assist and a dressing room is located on-site. 

For casual wear and home goods, students can visit our partner, the UofL Free Store, and for fresh and shelf-stable food, the Cardinal Cupboard.

Donations Welcome

We gratefully accept donations from UofL faculty, staff, and alumni, as well as members of the broader Louisville community.

Drop gently-used professional clothing and accessories at the Student Success Center desk in the Belknap Academic Building (BAB), or email hireattire@louisville.edu to arrange for pickup.

Donations are accepted year-round for all seasons. We have a particular need for men's smaller sizes, women's blouses, and full suits. We also welcome cocktail attire to meet the needs of law students and tuxedos for music students.
