Student Conduct FAQs
The easiest way to submit a report is to utilize the Report a Conduct Concern form. Questions or concerns may also be directed to the Dean of Students Office by calling (502) 852-5787, emailing dos@louisville.edu, or coming in-person to the Dean of Students Office.
The Dean of Students Office is located in the Student Affairs Suite (W301) on the third floor of the Student Activities Center. The office is open Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding university holidays.
Yes, the Student Code of Conduct applies to off-campus behavior that harms the University's interests or threatens the well-being of its community. The University handles violations of UofL policy, while courts address breaches of local, state, or federal law. Depending on the case, students may face one or both processes.
After reading the letter carefully, call (502) 852-5787 or email dos@louisville.edu to schedule an appointment with the appropriate staff member.
The University prioritizes student health and safety and encourages seeking immediate help in emergencies, even if it involves a potential violation of the Student Code of Conduct. To reduce hesitation, the "Good Samaritan" provision considers the positive impact of reporting incidents when evaluating policy violations.
This provision aims to balance any potential consequences for the reporter against the need to address the student's well-being. At a minimum, students or organizations are urged to anonymously report emergencies to connect those in need with emergency services.
Examples:
- Reporting alcohol-related unconsciousness despite being underage and consuming alcohol.
- Reporting a sexual assault despite having consumed alcohol underage.
For more details, contact the Dean of Students Office at W301 Student Activities Center, University of Louisville, or call (502) 852-5787.
