About Us

Our Mission

In recognition of disability as an important part of the diversity of our community, the Disability Resource Center fosters an inclusive campus climate through education, service, collaboration, and outreach to the University of Louisville community. We provide support for students with documented disabilities by promoting equal access to all programs and services.

Student Development Theory

The work of the Disability Resource Center is highly influenced by Sanford's theory of challenge and support. Students develop most when they are faced with a balance of challenges – experiences that push them to stretch beyond their current capabilities, and appropriate support – resources and assistance that help them meet those challenges. The DRC encourages students to engage in the many academic and social challenges that the University of Louisville has to offer while also providing appropriate supports to help our students meet those challenges.

DRC Statistics

1,563

students were registered with the DRC in 2024-2025
