Outdoor Recreation Trips
Discover new places, build lasting friendships, and explore the world what the world has to offer through our Outdoor Recreation trips. Whether you're interested in backpacking through scenic trails, horseback riding, canoeing, hiking, cycling, guided tours, or exploring unique outdoor destinations, our trips offer opportunities for every experience level.
Our goal is to make outdoor adventure accessible to all students. Trips are offered at a low cost whenever possible, helping reduce financial barriers while providing high-quality experiences, transportation, equipment (when applicable), and knowledgeable trip leaders. Whether you're trying an activity for the first time or looking for your next adventure, Outdoor Recreation provides a fun, safe, and affordable way to explore the outdoors while creating memories that last long after graduation.
Fall 2026 Trips
11am - 3pm: Simpsonville, KY
$80 per person.
Whether you're saddling up for the very first time or you're an experienced rider, you're invited to join us for a guided horseback adventure at Red Fern Riding Center in Simpsonville. Our knowledgeable trail guide will lead the way, allowing you to relax and take in the peaceful surroundings as you ride through scenic woodlands, open fields, and beautiful countryside.
October 4th - 6th: Oneida, Tennessee
$60 per person.
Join us for a 12.5 mile multi-day backpacking trip in the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. This trail offers a chance for up close views of the Cumberland River. The trail turns into a steep climb that leads to the top of a bluff, where river overlooks offer a panoramic view of the Big South Fork. On the top of the bluff, the trail winds its way through beautiful mountain laurel and hardwood forest. Several overlooks of the river and creek valleys can be found along the way, such as the Angel Falls Overlook and the Fall Branch Overlook.
Olive Hill, KY
$20 per person.
Cascade Cave, one of Carter County's largest and most breathtaking caves. Follow your guide through massive underground passageways, marvel at a stunning 30-foot waterfall, and learn about the cave's fascinating geology, unique ecosystem, and rich local history. Then, enjoy a scenic hike along the Three Bridges Trail, renowned for its beautiful rock formations and picturesque landscapes. This trail leads to three of the park's impressive natural rock bridges—Smoky Bridge, the largest of the three, along with Raven Bridge and Fern Bridge. Combining an underground cave experience with a peaceful woodland hike, this trip offers the perfect opportunity to experience the remarkable beauty and geological wonders of Carter Caves State Resort Park.
