Outdoor Recreation Skill Workshops
Build confidence, develop practical outdoor skills, and prepare for your next adventure through Outdoor Recreation Skill Workshops offered in the fall and spring semesters. Whether you're learning orienteering, backpacking fundamentals, wilderness first aid, camp cooking, gear selection, Leave No Trace principles, or other outdoor skills, our workshops provide hands-on learning opportunities for participants of all experience levels.
Our goal is to make outdoor education accessible to every student. Skill workshops are offered free of charge, removing financial barriers while providing expert instruction in a welcoming and supportive environment. Whether you're preparing for your first outdoor adventure or looking to expand your knowledge, Outdoor Recreation Skill Workshops help you gain the skills and confidence to safely enjoy the outdoors for years to come.
These courses are available to students, faculty, staff, and alumni for free, and no registration is required. Just show up; there is a place for you!

5-7pm SRC Upper Courts
Are you interested in archery? Learn all about it during this two hour introductory course. Participants will learn about archery equipment and have a chance to practice their newly acquired knowledge and skills at an indoor range inside of the Student Recreation Center. All equipment is provided and no outside equipment is allowed.

6-7pm SRC Classroom
This course will cover equipment selection and use, what to pack, efficient packing strategies, leave no trace principles, blister treatment and prevention, planning processes, and basic outdoor living techniques.
