Sidebar

The Cardinal Cupboard is a free food pantry on campus for all students, faculty, and staff. We support all members of our Cardinal Community, so whether you are struggling financially and finding it difficult to purchase food, you want a healthy snack between classes, or you’re looking for some fresh produce to supplement what you have at home, we’ve got you covered!

The Cardinal Cupboard is located on the 3rd floor of the Swain Student Activities Center (2100 S. Floyd St.), Room W312.

If you have questions or need assistance, email elsbccfp@louisville.edu.

How to Use the Program

Patrons of the pantry must have a valid university Cardinal Card to participate in the program. During your first visit, you will complete a short profile form to enroll in the program and swipe your Cardinal Card to check-in. Thereafter, you will only need to swipe your university Cardinal Card at check-in at every visit.

Hours of Operation

During the fall and spring semesters the pantry is open 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. We operate on limited hours during the summer term. Please consult our Instagram account @UofL.CardinalCupboard for more information.

Grab & Go Program

Need food, but you can’t visit the pantry during normal hours? Try our Grab & Go Program. Our Grab & Go bags contain enough shelf-stable food items to feed someone for approximately two days. For more information and to reserve a bag, complete the Grab & Go request form.

Volunteering or Staffing

Volunteers and student staff are essential to the success of this campus resource. If you are interested in serving as a program volunteer, please email elsbccfp@louisville.edu to inquire about how to get involved. We also have a limited number of federal work study positions available during the fall and spring semesters. To learn more about federal work-study positions, please visit the University Career Center website.

Donations

For those interested in providing monetary support to the program, we recommend donating through the UofL Foundation webpage for Student Affairs. Donors can place a one-time or recurring gift and designating it specifically to the Cardinal Cupboard, by simply selecting the program under the Additional Funds option.

For those wishing to provide in-kind donations, we recommend referencing the Cardinal Cupboard Food Pantry Wish List on Amazon. The wish list contains some of our most requested items in the pantry. Additionally, donations are shipped directly to the Cardinal Cupboard.

Food Drives

Hosting a food drive is another great opportunity to support the Cardinal Cupboard and we can provide help in coordinating your event date(s) and provide collection supplies. Please complete the food drive interest form to let us know your idea for hosting an event.
