Practicum, Internships, and GA positions
The UofL Counseling Center has two, 12-month Graduate Assistantship positions available for the 2026-2027 academic year. Both positions will consist of 20 hour work weeks at the UofL Counseling Center.
Eligible candidates for this assistantship must be currently enrolled in a clinically focused mental health graduate program at UofL, in good standing, and have successfully completed two years of practicum experience that entailed clinical mental health work under direct supervision.
Job description: Each Graduate Assistant is required to split their time providing clinical services, providing outreach duties, and maintaining the Center's social media accounts. Clinical service duties may include seeing clients in individual and couples therapy under the direct supervision of a licensed staff member, providing assessment services, providing Urgent Consultation coverage, providing supervision to first year doc trainees, and when possible, co-leading groups with a licensed staff member.
The graduate assistantship runs from July 2026 to July 2027 and adheres to University policy.
If you are interested in applying for this assistantship, please email a letter of interest, your CV, two letters of recommendation (one from most recent clinical supervisor), and an unofficial transcript to Dr. Aleska Hagan. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.
The Counseling Center seeks to create an incoming cohort of approximately 10-12 trainees from a variety of programs and disciplines with a variety of experience levels.
Trainee hourly expectations are determined by the Trainees' home program requirements.
There is a preference for placement contracts to be for the academic year. However, we may be open to alternative contracts including supplemental placements.
To apply for a practicum/internship placement, fill out the application and email a cover letter and resume to aleska.hagan@louisville.edu
For those seeking an assessment placement or mixed assessment/clinical placement include an example of an assessment report. This may include a deidentified assessment completed at a previous prac placement or a report completed as a part of an assessment class assignment.
