Summer Training

Where Future Army Officers Are Made

Each summer, over 9,000 ROTC cadets from across the nation converge at Fort Knox, Kentucky, for transformative leadership training that will shape their future military careers. This comprehensive training program represents a pivotal moment in every cadet's journey to becoming an Army officer.

Your Summer Training Journey

Summer training at Fort Knox consists of two distinct programs: Basic Camp for newer cadets and Advanced Camp for those preparing to enter their final year. Each program is carefully designed to challenge you, develop your leadership abilities, and prepare you for your future role as an Army officer.

Advanced Camp Experience

As the cornerstone of ROTC training, Advanced Camp puts your leadership skills to the ultimate test. During this intensive 31-day course, you'll join over 8,200 cadets in scenarios that will:

  • Test your tactical knowledge
  • Challenge your decision-making abilities
  • Develop your combat leadership skills
  • Build lifelong connections with fellow future officers

Additional Training Opportunities

Beyond the required camps, exceptional cadets can qualify for specialized training programs:

  • Air Assault School
  • Airborne School
  • Cultural Understanding and Leadership Program (CULP)
  • Combat Water Survival Training
  • Mountain Warfare School

Why Summer Training Matters
