Alternative Paths to Becoming an Army Officer
At UofL Army ROTC, we understand that everyone's journey is different. Our non-standard entry programs provide flexible options for students who want to join ROTC through alternative pathways. Whether you're a transfer student, sophomore, or graduate student, we have a program designed to help you succeed.
Alternate Entry Option (AEO)
The Alternate Entry Option provides a structured path for students who didn't start ROTC as freshmen. This program allows you to ease into ROTC leadership training through a modified curriculum sequence.
How AEO Works:
- Begin with senior-level ROTC curriculum in your first year
- Attend Cadet Initial Entry Training (CIET) during summer
- Complete junior-level curriculum in your final year
- Finish with Cadet Leadership Course (CLC) at Fort Knox
Note: While AEO participants aren't eligible for two-year full tuition scholarships, other non-scholarship incentives are available.
Accelerated Cadet Commissioning Training (ACCT)
ACCT is designed for exceptional students who demonstrate strong potential as Scholars-Athletes-Leaders (SAL). This intensive program allows qualified candidates to complete their commissioning requirements in just two years while pursuing their degree.
Who Can Apply
The program is ideal for:
- Current sophomores with strong academic records
- Transfer students from community colleges
- Students from other universities
- Graduate students
Program Structure
Your ACCT journey includes:
- Accelerated basic course requirements
- Early integration training (15-20 hours)
- MSL III courses
- Cadet Leadership Course (CLC)
- MSL IV courses and commissioning
Support and Mentorship
We ensure your success through comprehensive support:
- One-on-one mentorship from senior cadets
- Dedicated ROTC instructor guidance
- Specialized training in military basics
- Integration assistance into the Cadet battalion
Critical Training Areas
During your initial training period, you'll master:
- ROTC Battalion operations and structure
- Leadership development fundamentals
- Military ethics and values
- Army customs and courtesies
- Uniform standards
- Navigation skills
- Drill and ceremonies
- Physical fitness requirements
