Non-Standard Entry Programs

Alternative Paths to Becoming an Army Officer

At UofL Army ROTC, we understand that everyone's journey is different. Our non-standard entry programs provide flexible options for students who want to join ROTC through alternative pathways. Whether you're a transfer student, sophomore, or graduate student, we have a program designed to help you succeed.

Alternate Entry Option (AEO)

The Alternate Entry Option provides a structured path for students who didn't start ROTC as freshmen. This program allows you to ease into ROTC leadership training through a modified curriculum sequence.

How AEO Works:

  • Begin with senior-level ROTC curriculum in your first year
  • Attend Cadet Initial Entry Training (CIET) during summer
  • Complete junior-level curriculum in your final year
  • Finish with Cadet Leadership Course (CLC) at Fort Knox

Note: While AEO participants aren't eligible for two-year full tuition scholarships, other non-scholarship incentives are available.
