Eligibility & admission
The University Honors Program invites entering students with a demonstrable record of academic excellence, leadership, and service to apply. Selection is competitive and based on your overall academic and leadership profile.
Minimum requirements
- High school GPA: 3.5 (weighted) or higher
- Test Scores: ACT 24+ OR SAT 1160+
- Academic rigor: AP, IB or college-level coursework preferred
Application Criteria
We evaluate applications holistically, considering:
- Evidence of leadership, service, or research
- Quality of essay and resume
- Strength of extracurricular involvement
- Rigor of high school curriculum
Honors Early Action applicants receive their Honors decision by November 30. Students who apply by the December 1 Honors deadline receive their Honors decision by February 1. Students do not have to commit to UofL until the May 1 decision deadline.

For students applying to UofL for Summer or Fall terms, you must apply to UofL before applying to the Honors Program.

Students who are eligible to apply for the Honors Program will see that option in their New Cards Gateway under the "Competitive" tab. Please note: the Honors Application will only appear on your Gateway if you meet the requirements to apply.
